Awas !! Cacing gelang dalam kucing jalanan

Saya selalu dapat panggilan untuk tolong check kucing yang baru dikutip dari jalanan untuk dipelihara,. Selalunya kawan-kawan yang buat "pet rescue" @ program selamatkan anak kucing terbiar. Kadang-kadang dari keluarga yang anaknya kutip kucing dari jalanraya.

Dan boleh dikatakan saya agak-agak 80% dari kucing ni selalunya pembawa cacing gelang.Ada 2 lagi jenis cacing iaitu cacing pita dan cacing cangkuk, tapi jarang-jarang saya tengok dalam kucing ( di Malaysia). Ikut teori manusia boleh terjangkit sebab tertelan telur cacing dari sisa najis terlekat badan kucing semasa memegang, tapi setakat 8 tahun ni belum ada kes orang mengadu pada saya.

Ini rupanya cacing gelang. Sama dengan yang terdapat dalam perut anjing.

Kucing ada cacing ni senang nak bezakan, perutnya buncit ke bawah keras tapi badan dan kaki kurus kering. Gambar saya akan cuba cari.

Masalahnya bila anak kucing bawah 3-4 bulan usus akan tersumbat macam gambar bawah..

Nak keluarkan cacing ni bukan susah bagi sahaja ubat cacing, dalam masa beberapa jam keluarlah cacing dari dubur. Ada kes yang lebih kronik, belum sempat bagi ubat, boleh nampak cacing menjalar keluar ikut hidung atau mulut ( dah banyak sangat cacing dalam perut usus).

Tapi masalah paling besar dari pengalaman saya, ada dalam 50% kes, lepas cacing usus keluar si anak kucing bawah 3-4 bulan ni akan jatuh sakit, lemah badan, suhu badan jatuh (nampak macam nak mati)

Masa ni lah kena perhati semalaman dan ikut pengalaman saya

1. Beli sarung getah doktor, isi air panas letak dekat untuk maintain suhu badan

2. Bagi suntikan antibiotik SEBELUM ubat cacing . ini sebab bila cacing tu mati, tempat mulut dia yang lekat dalam usus akan tinggal luka kecil, bakteria usus mungkin susup masuk saluran darah dan kotorkan darah. sebab itu jatuh sakit lepas cacing keluar.

3. Steroid sehari sekali untuk naikkkan suhu badan / aktifkan badan.

Kesimpulan: Berhati-hati bila kutip kucing jalanan. Berhati-hati semasa beri ubat cacing kalau bawah umur 3-4 bulan.

Secara ringkas, rangsang badan untuk lawan virus atau bakteria kalau dijangkiti.

Bintik-bintik hitam pada bibir kucing

Ramai pemilik kucing tertanya apa dia bintik -bintik hitam pada bibir kucing mereka macam gambar dibawah.

Saya banyak jumpa ini dalam kucing warna oren. Makin tua makin banyak.
Selalunya tak bawa apa-apa masalah , macam tahi lalat pada manusia yang timbul sedikit demi sedikit bila umur meningkat.

Hip problem 熟悉内情的问题

I get a lot of questions about " what is hip problem" from new owners of big dogs. The proper name is Hip Dysplasia or HD.

The last case i handled was in 2002 when i worked in retail . One of the Labradors was already 8 months but still no buyer.

One day suddenly she didn't want to walk . She just want to sit and lie down. So i suspected HD. We just opened a clinic so we can x-ray anytime and it was very clear she had HD., but not so serious.

So i gave her 2 types of medicines. One for her pain (HD is painful because bone is rubbing against bone,,later u can see picture below),,and one to help the hip joint to become stronger. One day after starting medicines she already can walk, few weeks later she had no problem even after stop medicine but if u look carefully, her legs is a bit stiff when walking.

This is a more serious case i recently handled November 2008.

Its a 1 year old Golden Retriever.

The owner said the dog suddenly doesn't want to stand up and prefer lying down, but still wants the owner to play with her. Its was really sad to see it that way,,,and the owner i can tell was also feeling sorry for the dog.

From this picture below, there was also "swelling " on the left hip ,,( the yellow circle area) and the left leg cannot be used when it stands up..yellow arrows.

So we took her for x-ray and very clearly it was HD,,a very bad case , we call it Class 3 (there is Class 1-4) ..because from x-ray the hip bone is about more than 75 percent out of the socket...yellow circle .

In this picture , also the swelling is actually the left hip bone has popped out from the joint, so its hanging loose under the skin....(the red arrow) !!!

For her it was only surgery that can solve the problem.

The surgery sounds extreme, but it actually works well and can see good result one week after surgery.

1. The hip bone's head have to be cut half so that there is no bone-bone contact so no pain.

2. There will be no more hip joint, but the hip bone head will have new tissue growing around the head and become like a cushion,,also known as a false joint.

3. This false joint will be the new hip joint.

The point : HD can be treated by medicines or surgery depend the seriousness. Usually the x-ray can tell . I prefer using medicines because if young dogs, the bone is still growing and maybe the joints can readjust itself if its not serious.

Swollen elbow in big dogs

There is a problem of "Sudden Swollen Elbow" in big dogs . Usually it appears overnight. The proper name is "hygroma".
Its caused by too much rubbing against floor, the skin on elbow become loose and body water goes into space under the skin and a " ballon" appears on the elbow.Usually its only body water in there, no pus.

Can dissapear on its own with medicines but if still cannot, need surgery.

The last time i handled was in 2000, a Great Dane. My boss operated on the dog and put a drain tube for the water to come out and 2-3 weeks later the balloon disappeared.

One of my vet friends say he treat same case only with medicine and it worked.

Recently i handled this case in November 2008. It was a 4 year old Doberman,suddenly the elbow had a balloon overnight.

The dog is actually very big, but i don't know why in the picture it looks smaller (?). I used my phone camera.

The swelling is on the left leg elbow..the right elbow is ok, but the Great Dane i handled in 2000,,started like this ,,after a few days,,the right elbow and back legs also have same problem
( 4 places)

I'm trying to solve the problem with medicines first. Hopefully can subside in few weeks time.
Update on 10.2.2011= the swelling resolved 100% after 2 months.
The point: The balloon only contain body water, not dirty stuff, so no need to urgently cut it open. Can be treated with medicines, not necessarily surgery.

Heartworm looks like this

They look like bean-sprouts and becoz they multiply becoming many, they block the heart.
Dog become sick only after a few years after getting the baby worms from mosquitoes. This disease is very common in Malaysia(Even humans get it, but get problem in the legs,,"elephant feet'')

I have tested positive a 6 months Dalmation in USJ Subang Jaya before, so it means in town area dogs still can get it.

Testing can be done using
1. Test kit (results in 5 minute).
2. Blood screening under microscope (can see the baby worms swimming in the blood).a bit like watching an "Alien" movie

How to prevent:
-give Heartworm injection before 6 months old. repeat once a year.
-usually given with or after the last vaccination( 3rd dose)
- if dog already after 6 months - better do the test , because the injection maybe doesn't work anymore because the babyworms in the blood are already too old.But mostly owners don't want to test and just want to give the injection.

Or can buy Heartgard,,a box of 6 tablets ,,1 tablet each month ,buy according to size. 1 box costs RM 100-RM120.

1 year = 2 box = about the same if give injection = eliminate the hassle of having to remember every month.

Ear infection 耳朵传染。

Ear infection can be painful or not depends how bad it is.

1. Some dogs can tolerate you to touch and clean the ear
2. Some will cry a bit when touch but will allow if you do it gently
3. Some will bite your hand even if u touch the ear lobes

Normally dogs with ear infection i can clean the ear easily without anesthetics. But sometimes if cry a bit or bite , anesthetics have to be used.

Early signs..

1. Dog alway shaking the head
2. Pawing the infected ear more than usual
3. Notice the smell first . Very strong smell coming from the infected ear.

But sometimes can be no smell at all like Case 2 below,,read on.

Case No. 1

Received a call from the owner, the lady wanted me to go over in Putra Heights to treat her dog's era infecton. Dog was a 1 year Labrador .No pain when i touch the ears.

Ear infection smell very strong. What i did was :

1. Flush the ears with iodine
2. Gave a strong antibiotic jab .
3. Gave a ear cream to apply once a day for 2 weeks
4. Antibiotic to eat for 10 days.

Later when i visited the dog 2 weeks later , the ear was clean, and healthy.

Case No. 2

The dog was 9 years old . Very fierce and strong.Even the owner cannot touch the ear.

I gave sedatives but still didn't "calm" the dog. So had to bring to a clinic to give anesthetics.

1. Clean the ear
2. Antibiotic jab
3. Antibiotic to eat for 3 weeks.

No ear cream. ( will bite owner's hand if try touch the ears!)

Putting a muzzle or daily anesthetics is out of the question.

After 3 weeks a follow-up checkup revealed the ear is still not healing, so we had to take sample from the ear for a lab test to check what type of bacteria is growing there and what is the best antibiotic to use. Results to be known in 3 days .

If after the second round of antibiotics doesn't work, a surgical procedure to enlarge the ear canal for better ventilation will be considered.

The point: In case No. 1, young and not fierce dog is easier to treat and heal. Case No. 2 , older and fierce dogs difficult to treat and cure. The ear cream is always the best medicine.
Also in Case No. 2, maybe is better to do the lab test straight away after the first visit rather than wait the second time ( but depends owners willing to pay extra for the test ?..... )

案件第2

投入枪口或每日麻醉剂毫无疑问。在3个星期以后后续核对显露了耳朵仍然不愈合，因此我们必须采取从耳朵的样品实验室试验的能检查什么样的细菌增长那里，并且什么是使用的最佳的抗生素。在3天将知道的结果。如果在抗生素以后doesn'第二个圆; t工作，扩大更好的透气的耳道的外科手术将被考虑。点：万一第1，年轻人和不剧烈狗是更加容易对待和愈合。案件难第2，更老和剧烈的狗对待和治疗。耳朵奶油总是最佳的医学。并且，万一第2，可能是更好立刻做实验室试验，在第一次参观而不是等待第二次之后(但是依靠愿的所有者额外支付测试？.....)

Sindrom " Mati Mengejut" dikalangan kucing

Pernah tak dengar cerita dari kawan atau saudara tentang kucing mereka tiba-tiba dijumpai mati dalam rumah.

Biasanya sebagai tambahan mereka juga akan berkata " tapi malam sebelum tu ok je...".

Tahu kah apa sebabnya ?

Saya ada juga selalu terdengar cerita ni dari client atau kawan bila sembang2 . Dan selepas bertanya biasanya "si mati" atau "mendiang" akan mempunyai ciri-ciri berikut"

1. Jantina : Jantan selalunya. Betina jarang-jarang. Dan biasanya yang sudah dikasi.
2. Umur: 1-3 tahun
3. Makanan : Biskut kucing 100%
4. Gemuk atau obese. Makanan selalunya terhidang 24 jam.

Punca paling terdekat untuk kes " Mati Mengejut" ini ialah disebabkan batu karang. Dalam Bahasa Inggeris pun ada terma veterinar nya iaitu " Sudden Death Syndrome in Cat"...cuma saya ciptakan je untuk Bahasa Malaysia (Dewan Bahasa ,,take note )

Agaknya macamana batu karang ni boleh bunuh kucing,,sedangkan pakcik2 atau atuk2 kita yang kene batu karang pun ok je,, (maknanya takdalah sampai mati tiba- tiba..)

Sebabnya manusia kalau batu karang boleh rasa dan akan sendiri jumpa doktor. Kucing pula akan tanggung je sakit dalam diam dan mati tiba-tiba bila racun dalam kencing yang tersumbat tu meresap masuk saliran darah badan, pergi ke otak, dan bunuh sel otak. Bila otak rosak, maka organ2 penting badan pun tak berfungsi , jadi badan pun mati.

Kalau baca diatas tentu anda perasan perkataan "kencing yang tersumbat".

Cara paling baik untuk elak ini berlaku ialah :
1. Cuba fikirkan , adakah kucing anda dalam kumpulan berisiko tinggi seperti :

-. Jantina : Jantan /betina yang telah dikasi
-. Umur: 1-3 tahun
-. Makanan : Biskut kucing 100%
-. Gemuk atau obese
- kalau pegang pundi kencing di celah kelenkang kaki belakang, rasanya besar dan keras macam buah mangga isi lembut (kalau normal rasanya macam belon diisi air separuh)

2. Cuba elakkan makan biskut 100%. Kalau tak larat nak masak atau makanan basah terlalu mahal, cari lah jenama 2 yang ada tulis "urinary control". Jenama ni spesel untuk kucing berisiko dan tolong elak pembentukan batu karang. Beri makan sikit-sikit sehari 2-3 kali ,,jangan letak banyak2.

Satu lagi perangai kucing ni, dia takut makanan dia diusik .Macam harimau/singa , kalau dapat makanan dia akan sorok. Kucing rumah tak tahu nak sorok makanan. Sebab tu lah , kalau kadang-kadang kita berjalan atau lalu mana bekas makanan kucing dia akan ikut dan makan bila kita ada situ untuk tunjuk kita yang makanan ini dia punya.

3. Rajin-rajinlah perhatikan kucing anda semasa dia kencing . Selalunya kucing normal, cangkung terus kencing. Yang ada batu karang ni (atau mula ada batu karang) akan cangkung, bangun , pusing berkali-kali tapi tak kencing2 juga dan biasanya disertai bunyi "mengomel" macam tak puashati.

Yang tanda terakhir No. 3 saya pernah alami pada kucing saya tahun lepas.

Satu hari, saya terperasan dia suka berlari-lari laju sambil "mengomel' selepas keluar dari kotak pasir dia. Saya tau dia cuba nak beritahu sesuatu.

Lalu, saya pun cuba tunggu bila dia pergi kotak pasir lagi.

Dan memang dia tunjuk tanda-tanda tadi seperti No. 3.

Saya tengok 2-3 kali dia buat macam tu saya pun pegang lah pundi kencingnya,,besar dan keras,,tak normal (maknanya kencing tersumbat). Saya pun pergilah cari ubat dan ubah makanannya (seminggu 2-3 kali saya beri makanan basah) dan saya kawal makanan supaya tak banyak sangat...dan kucing saya ialah betina yang telah dikasi semasa umur 4-5 bulan. lepas tu sampai sekarang saya tak nampak lagi tanda masalah lagi.

Nak sambungkan cerita, saya selalu pergi ke klinik kawan saya yang kadang2 ada kes kucing kencing tersumbat ni. Rawatannya agak mahal dalam $300- $ 500.

Rawatan untuk batu karang pun sebenarnya cukup sakit pada pendapat saya . Sebab tiub kecil perlu dimasukkan dari lubang kencing kat zakar sampai dia masuk kat pundi kencing..walaupun pakai bius,, tapi bayangkanlah bila kucing tu bangun,,macamana agaknya rasa...Kalau pembaca lelaki, saya rasa bolehlah bayangkan rasanya macam mana. Kalau nasib baik batu karang tu pecahlah sepanjang 7-10 hari kucing tu pakai tiub dan makan ubat.

Kawan saya pun ada beritahu, selalu jugak kes ni berulang sebab pemilik tak jaga atau tukar makanan lepas sembuh.

So dari apa yang saya simpulkan pencegahan lebih baik dari rawatan.Masa kucing saya kena tu saya cuma beri satu suntikan , makan pil 5-7 hari dan ubah makanan..sebabnya dikesan awal.

Vaccination in dogs 在狗的接种

Vaccinating seems to be a simple process. This is the most routine procedure performed in veterinary clinics.

How ?

In simplest terms, a vaccination stimulates the dog's immune system to protect itself against disease. Later in life if a virus or bacteria enters the dog's body, it is recognized as foreign and antibodies are produced to destroy it. Even after that virus or bacteria is destroyed, the body "remember" it and will respond more quickly the next time the same virus or bacteria "comes to visit again".

The schedule is like this

1. One and half months old - First jab of normal vaccine

Some breeders/petshops/ vets prefer to wait until 2 months..All brands of vaccines advise start at 1 half months.Some owners prefer to wait , can start at 2-3 months, thats ok. Normal vaccine means what usually vets use . It either "6 in 1 " or "9 in 1 "

2. One month later - Second jab normal vaccine

3. One month later - Third jab normal vaccine

4. One month later - One jab of Rabies (optional ) + repeat every 3 years

5. One year later- repeat one jab normal vaccine

6. Give Heart worm injection or tablets before 6 months old ( Read Heartworm )

" 6 in1" have protection against:

1. parvo

2. distemper

3. adenovirus ( liver infection)

4. parainfluenza (dog flu)

Do dogs get sick from a vaccination?

It is true that some animals have a systemic reaction, including a low-grade fever or muscle aches and pain. This reaction is more common in young and toy breed dogs and causes them to eat less and sleep more for 24-48 hours. Rarely, dogs will have a more severe reaction, characterized by hives, swelling of the face, or even vomiting. This reaction is easily prevented by giving antihistamine at the time of subsequent vaccinations. Leptospirosis, the component most likely to produce such strong reactions, can be left out of some vaccines. If your dog has had a vaccine reaction in the past, don't skip future vaccinations but do warn the veterinarian so he can take steps to prevent a recurrence.

Here are some cases that i have personally handled

1. Dog had a vaccination, went home, owner find "hives" or swelling on the face and body ( 2-3 times in 8 years experience).
Easy to treat,,,after injection with antihistamine, the swelling disappeared within minutes.

2. Dog had a vaccination, owner called the next day to ask why its quiet , eat less than usual,sleeps more than usual
( this is maybe 1 out of 50 dogs in my rough estimate

3. but the most dramatic i have encountered would still be this one case,,,

Dog had a vaccination some where else ,taken to a pet shop for some hair cutting., suddenly went into a comatose -like state ( only once in my 8 years experience)

I was called to a pet shop and the owner and her assistant really freaked out. They thought it the puppy was shocked by the sound of a hair dryer nearby, was dying of a heart attack.

So i arrived at the shop. The owners and a few customers were crowding at the counter and everything was hush-hush. So i went into the grooming room and there on the table was a Shih-tzu lying motionless (lifeless, limp and almost look dead). Heartbeat weak, temperature below normal. And after enquiry the owner mentioned it just got a vaccination jab from a clinic.

Luckily i remembered that i encountered this problem with vaccination before ( face swelling) and mentally recalling my notes on "anaphylactic reaction". But i didnt have any antihistamine injection with me...So i went to a human clinic next door ,introduced my self, told the doctor about the situation next door, and he was nice to explain what medications he had, and sure enough he had a bottle of the required antihistamine. (by the way , we do use human medications a lot in vet practice). After calculating the dosage , i went back and neatly inserted the needle into the muscles of the leg ( for quick effect) .. and waited.

In about a few seconds , i saw the eyes begin to flicker,,then more rapidly. After 2 -3 minutes the head started moving. Then i went out and talked to the owner about the situation for about 2 minutes. Then when we went inside to see the pup, he was raising himself up,,dreamy eye,, shaking his head,,yawning and looked as though just woke up from a good night sleep...

After a few more minutes , the pup was walking around as though nothing happened.

If you are reading this, please tell ur friends about this story.
Not to scare them about vaccination..but at least if something happened to their pup , they know what to do.

But after reading all above , is vaccination still worth the risk?

It sounds like vaccinations are dangerous. Is it worth the risk?

I think the way to look at it is to consider a few things

1. If not vaccinated, the risk of contracting a fatal disease like distemper, rabies, or parvovirus is higher.

2. Distemper and parvo = 50;50 survival rate, dog in really bad shape / pain for weeks at end , costs about $ 500-1000 to treat (most vets will caution you its 50/50) .

3. Rabies . not many cases in Malaysia , but remember its a tropical country with many wild cats, squirrels, rats running around who may carry the disease....ok maybe less risk if your dog is a indoor pooch.

The point:
Vaccination is a scientifically proven method to save you and your pup from dangerous diseases, expensive treatments and even emotional stress. Millions and billions of pets have benefitted from it. Although there are risks involved, the benefits outweigh the risks.

Kudis ni sebabnya oleh hama yang rupanya macam ni

Saya selalu dapat kes ni. Selalunya telinga kucing bergerutu macam gambar ni.

Kadang2 sahaja ada yang dah teruk sampai muka pun penuh kudis.

Biasanya client akan kata "Doktor , kucing saya kena kurap lah". Saya pun kata "Ok, kena bagi injection,,,,,,".Sebenarnya kalau saya mahu saya boleh kata "Maaf, ini bukan kurap , ini kudis buta,,kudis buta ni disebabkan........................"

Tapi saya tak buat sebab pada saya client ni kalau dah biasa dengan satu istilah tu , tak payah lah nak cuba sekolahkan dia lagi. Biarlah. Yang penting rawatan ikut protokol dan kebiasaan dan berkesan.

Actually ada tips untuk elakkan kurap tu melarat sampai macam ni.
Kalau dalam gambar ni saya rasa pemilik tak buat apa2 dan biarkan 1-2 bulan dari tanda awal.

Apa dia tanda2 awal kurap kucing dan macam mana nak elakkan sampai melarat dan kena belanja banyak???
( sekali injection dah $30 -$50 dan biasanya kena ulang dua kali baru guarantee sembuh)

1. .Hama ni dia membiak dalam telinga dulu dan kemudian merebak dan biak bawah kulit cuping telinga dan selepas itu ke kulit muka.

Sebab tu tanda paling awal ialah kalau kucing tiba2 selalu garu telinga setiap 2-3 jam, cepatlah periksa telinga dan tengok rupa taik telinga yang ada kat belah dalam cuping. Kucing yang ada hama ni rupa taik telinga nya berbeza dari biasa (macam pasir/lumpur hitam ) dan banyak semacam .

Kucing yang sihat biasanya tahi telinga tak nampak sangat.Dalam gambar ni tahi telinga terlebih2 dan rupa macam pasir/lumpur hitam (tanda ada hama)

2. kalau nak confirm boleh ambil kucing untuk check di klinik.Biasanya ambil sampel tahi, letak bawah mikroskop boleh nampak hama. Kalau saya, dah experience , terus bagi je ubat titis telinga untuk seminggu dua. Ini untuk bunuh hama dan elak merebak sampai ke telinga/ muka.

Kucing hilang gigi lepas selalu beranak

Saya pernah dapat satu kes ni, kucing ni umur baru 2-3 tahun. Pemilik ngadu selalu nampak lemah.

Saya check2 demam. Saya pun bagi la suntikan dan lepas tu nak suap sebiji pil dalam mulut kucing ni. Bila saya buka mulut kucing ni,, semua giginya dah takda atas dan bawah,,saya terus teringat kat cerita "nenek kebayan" .

Tapi nenek kebayan gigi tinggal satu,, ni langsung takda gigi!! Pemilik dia pun tak perasan yang kucing dia ni dah takda gigi. Kesian .

Tanya punya tanya rupanya kucing ni dah beberapa kali beranak,, dan selepas beranak kali terakhir itulah dah mula sakit2 dan lemah2 badan.

Kes takda gigi ni saya rasa ialah sebab "calcium resorption". Masa kucing ni menyusu dulu2, habis kalsium dalam badan pergi kat susu , sampaikan terpaksa serap kalsium tulang dan gigi.

Sebab tulah bila kucing mengandung dan menyusu digalakkan beri makanan yang khas untuk kucing kitten sebab lebih banyak khasiat danbagilah sedikit susu sesekali.

Kesimpulan:
Proses mengandung dan beranak memang cepat dan selalu dalam kucing. Jangan ambil mudah. Sesekali periksa keadaan ibu yang mengandung dan pastikan makanan berzat dan cukup sebelum jadi masalah seperti diatas.

" Why my dog like to eat its poop" ?

I've been asked this question so many times that i've lost count. Even venturing into the pet forums before starting this blog i see people posting this question (seems like this is the mother of all questions on dogs) .

There is simply no definitive answer to "WHY". But most veterinary books on psychological problems give a few "possibilities"

1. remnant of a scavenging instinct ie as wolves?

2. boredom

3. Stress of confinement..just wants something to chew on

For me , No. 2 and 3 seems more likely based on my own experience with own my puppy.

Ok, her name was Lassie (i know,,so generic). My uncle gave to me from a friends litter. Just a mongrel but with golden brown ,,heard was a mix with German Shepard.Thsi was in 1980's something.
She had a kennel and would be free most of the time and did her toilet thing at a corner of the garden, quite big garden as i was staying in a semi -d.

Ok so everything was fine. no problem with her except she had a phase when she liked to chew our slippers and stopped after when hid them and gave her some bones to chew on instead.

Then one day my father decided to chain her for a while to a cemented big manhole cover at the side of the house, because she was starting to dig holes instead of chewing bones.

And , just few days after that, to our horror,,,,she started eating her poop right in front of us. That image of her doing that is still stuck in my head until today.

This continued for a few days..until after covering all holes she dug up.. she was released again,,and we never saw her eating that u-know-what.

And luckily , she never repeated that behaviour again.

Anyways back to the topic, the solution for this problem as advocated in books are such as

1. Keep yard free of feces

2. Use of some chemicals additive to food to deliver a highly unpleasent bitter taste in feces. This can be found in petshops. but a book says use of monosodium glutamate.
Some use emetics (stuff that cause vomiting) to feces before the dog eats it.after the dog ingest it will vomit @ unpleasant experience.

This "treatment" is successful only if started ASAP before the dog develop a "hardcore" habit.

Looking at all facts above, i conclude,,,its clear to avoid the problem,,dogs must be taught to do their toilet at somewhere far from where they sleep.

Any comments on this?

Kenapa abang dia gemuk, adik dia kurus selalu sakit??

Kadang-kadang saya dapat kes macam ni..

Seorang client akan bawak dua ekor kucing adik-beradik dalam satu sangkar.Seekor tu kira "abang" gemuk gedempol , sihat dan nampak ceria.Seekor lagi kira pangkat "adik" kurus kering mukanya pucat lesi macam ketakutan dan selalulah kena selesema dsbnya.

Apa sebabnya macamni?

Selalunya kalau saya tanya si pemilik macamana perangai mereka bila makan. Pemilik akan jawab

1. " biasanya si abang akan makan dulu , bila dah kenyang baru si adik makan" ATAU

2. " "bila abangnya makan . si adik tak boleh nak makan sebab kena "marah" , kena tunggu bila abang dah pergi baru boleh makan"

ataupun kes parah

3. "abang nya je yang makan habis licin, adiknya dapat sisa-sisa kalau ada"

Kes macam ni selalu berlaku bila ada lebih dari dua ekor kucing yang sama-sama membesar. Bila sampai 3-4 bulan, masa mula makanan pejal, akan ada seekor yang lebih "DOMINAN" atas yang lain. Dia ni lah yang akan "conquer" tempat makanan.

Bila jadi macam ni selalulah akan ada seekor yang tak dapat cukup zat, dan membesar dengan terbantut sedikit..badan pun kurang kuat,dan selalu sakit2.

Lagi satu bila ada seekor yang terlalu "DOMINAN" boleh jadi sampai si adik tu selalu mcam tekanan perasaan sebab rasa terkongkong , oleh itu selalu jatuh sakit.

Macamana nak atasi problem ni?

1. Sediakan vekas makanan asing2 dan jauh antara satu sama lain dan angkat dan letak kucing2 supaya dia kenal mana bekas dia.

Problem ini biasanya akan selesai lepas mereka dah besar lebih 6 bulan keatas bila masing 2 dah tau nak sesuaikan diri..tapi masa umur 3-6 bulan kalau tak jaga problem ni ,,terpaksalah selalu keklinik sebab nak rawat si adik.Ya lah makanan tak cukup walhal 3-6 bulan lah masa paling penting di membesar dan bina sistem imun ( macam kanak-kanak)

I once when to a house to visit a St. Bernard. I was looking forward to meet the fellow, because having taken care of a few, they were as some say "gentle giants" and very beautiful dog.

When i reached the house, i was greeted by a seemingly nice old man in Pagoda t-shirt and shorts who opened the gate.

However when i came into the porch, there was hardly any resemblance of a "gentle" St. Bernard. Rather it was a thin, but nonetheless big dog jumping around and barking like mad in a cage just enough for it to stand.

The first image that came into my mind was "is this a rottweiller in St. Bernards skin??"The dog really2 resembled a crazed rottweiller in shape and demeanour. Off course many rotts ive met are cool and composed because of the owners good handling.

And later it was not an easy task to give a injection to the dog. The nice old man whipped out a big cane, did not hit the dog, but with some loud angry words managed to push and pin the fellow onto a corner (seems to be an expert at these thing it seems) .

Maanged to give the injection. Later the the lady owner returned and i manage to see another round of shouting betwwen her and the "gentle giant".

My point here is, during my many visits to clients house, many times i had the opportunity seen how owners interact with their dog.

And many a times i notice that dogs who are either

1. bad tempered
2. aggresive
3. difficult to handle
4. overly dislike to being touched to the point of snapping at my hands

are treated by owners in either one of these ways

1. threatening in loud angry voice
2. Use of a cane to threaten or maybe beat (when nobodys around?)
3. Chained in most of the time
4. Locked or caged for long periods of the day

In my personal view these are the causes of why dogs become "angry " dogs.

There is as i see no other answer, because dogs i've met that are generally nice in demeanour,it is clearly owing to their owners gentle but firm handling.

To all of you, who knows anyone rearing a puppy, please tell them, never try using bullying tactics to teach a puppy and never2 cage or chain a dog for long -long hours . In my opinion this will eventually turn them into aggressive and angry dog who may pose danger to people or children later in life. There are many alternatives to training a dog but hitting, shouting , threatening is not one of them.

Yet i've also noticed no matter how bad or rude the owner are to their dogs , most dogs are very trusting and obediently allow the owner to feed pills into their mouths, wash their wounds etc. which they would never allow a total stranger like me to do.

Speaks volumes of a dogs trust for their "master" doesn't it?

Elakkan mengkasi kucing yang mengandung!!

Baru-baru ini saya berada di kedai haiwan kawan saya untuk memberi rawatan kepada seorang pelanggannya . Seorang akak ni yang kebetulan ada disitu bertanya kepada kawan saya, " dia ni doktorkah?". Kawan saya pun kata " hah ya lah, kan nampak dia bagi suntikan tadi".
Saya pun perasan lah akak ni macam nak berbual, saya pun tunggu dia datang. Dia datang dan bertanya "awak boleh ke operate kucing tak nak bagi dia mengandung ?" . saya cakap ' boleh" dan lepas tu terangkan cara saya buat dan bayaran nya.

Kemudian akak tu pun ceritalah , baru-baru ni dia ada hantar kucing dia untuk operate yang sama tapi esoknya lepas bawa balik mati di rumah. Mukanya pun nampak sebak dan macam nak menangis. . (tapi nasib baik tak menangis) ,mungkin dia rasa bersalah. Saya pun tanya "Macamana boleh jadi macam tu?" (sebabnya operation ni biasa dibuat dan jarang ada kematian)

Dia pun ceritalah. Masa hantar kucing dia namapk macam tak mengandung, tapi bila doktor dah belah, rupanya kucing dia mengandung. Biasanya kes macam ni janin dah ada tapi belum ada bentuk kucing , baru bentuk macam "berudu". Tapi uterus kucing tu ada bentuk2 guli sebanyak 5-10 biji bergantung berapa ekor anak.

Berbalik cerita akak tadi, doktor pun telefon tanya, nak teruskan ke operation tu, akak tu pun kata teruskan . Tapi lepas esok mati lah si ibu kucing yang malang tu.

Kes seperti ini jarang berlaku tapi BOLEH berlaku sebab ibu mengandung, salur darah nya membesar di sekitar salur beranak. kalu dioperate disitu risiko kemungkinan pendarahan dalaman besar, saya rasa mungkin ini sebabnya, tapi mungkin lah sebab lain juga.

Tapi pokok pangkalnya pada pendapat saya elakkan dari menhantar kucing yang disyaki mengandung untuk operation macam ni.Kalau tak sure pergi lah cari klinik yang ada x-ray.

Cara terbaik elakkan masalah ni hantar lah masa umur 4-5-6 bulan sebab.
1. Kurang masalah kesakitan.Kalau kucing setahun lebih, memang bangun nya esok pagi namapk raut muka menanggung kesakitan yang teramat,,,azab...kesian.

2. Luka pun cepat sembuh kalau kucing muda.

3. Cuba cari klinik yang buat operation guna bius secara gas . Kucing akan tidur nyenyak dan tak rasa kesakitan sangat banding bius guna suntikan (bergantung jenis ubat)

Kucing saya pun saya dah rancang awal2 dan hantar masa umur dia 5 bulan , dan lepas operation , bangun dan macam biasa keesokan harinya. Sekarang ni badan pun cantik, dan perangai pun macam keanakan lagi. Kadang 2 kesian jugak dia tak merasa jadi "ibu" tapi saya jaga makan minum kebersihan kesihatan dia dengan baik, hidup dia pun happy je hari2. Makan sedap, tidur , main.itu je la keje dia. kira ok lah.

Is there a restriction on the type of pets that can be imported?

Certain breeds of dogs cannot be imported into the country while there are restrictions on the import of some other breeds of dogs. Please refer to the LIST of Banned / Restricted Breeds of Dogs and Conditions for the approval of importation of Restricted Breeds of dogs.

Exotic pets of wildlife origin may be subject to wildlife conservation conditions under the CITES. Please refer to the Department of Wildlife and National Parks for details

How do I import pets into Malaysia ?

Imports are subject to import regulations of the Department of Veterinary Services Malaysia (DVS). For types of animals and products not listed, please write to us for specific regulations.

Is there a minimum age requirement for importation?

Dogs and cats shall be at least 3 months of age at the time of import.

How many pets can I import?

There is no restriction on the number of pets that can be imported by a person. However the local authorities in Malaysia may have regulations pertaining to the number of dogs that can be kept within residential premises.

Is it necessary to microchip my pet?

This is not necessary (except for restricted breeds of dogs) but it is adviseable.

Do I need an Import Permit?

You are required to obtain an import permit from this department to be able to import pets into Malaysia. Pets arriving without import permits may not be allowed entry by the animal quarantine officers at the point of entry. To import an exotic animal or a wildlife as pet you may also be required to obtain an approval from the Department of Wildlife Conservation and National Parks prior to applying for the import permit from DVS.

Where do I obtain an import permit?

For importation into Peninsular Malaysia import permits shall be obtained from the Directors of State Veterinary departments or the Director General, Department of Veterinary Services, Malaysia
For importation into the States of Sabah and Sarawak, enquiries and application shall be made to those states concerned.

How do I obtain an import permit?

You should submit the application together with a copy of current vaccination records and import permit fee of five Ringgit (RM 5.00) per dog/cat. The fee can be paid in cash or by bank draft, money order or postal order, made payable to the Director General of Veterinary Services Malaysia or the Director of the State concerned. Applicants outside the country may submit applications by post or through a local representative (friend, relative or agent in Malaysia).

What happens if on import, I did not comply to the regulations and procedures?

The pet may not be allowed entry or shall be subject to any action deemed fit by the Animal Quarantine Officer.

Entry Point Clearance

Is there a restriction on point of entry?

Pets shall land for entry clearance only at the point of entry specified in the import permit. Pets that require quarantine may only land at the KLIA, Penang or Padang Besar where quarantine facilities are available.

Can my pet transit to another point of entry in Malaysia?

Pets are required to land and clear entry at the point of entry specified in the import permit. Transit of the pet to other points of entry is not allowed without clearance by the Animal Quarantine officer at the specified entry point.

Are there charges incurred for entry clearance?

Apart from the Customs charges, entry of pets is subject to veterinary inspection charges.

What documents will be required for clearance at the entry point?

The original copies of the import permit, the health certificate from the veterinary authority of the exporting country and CITES approval (where necessary) shall be submitted to the Animal Quarantine Officer for clearance. All documents shall be in Bahasa Malaysia or English.

What is the validity period of the health certificate?

Veterinary Health Certificates shall be dated within 7 days of export unless specified otherwise in the import regulation.

Does it matter if I do not travel with my pet?

The pet may travel unaccompanied. A local representative (friend, relative or agent in Malaysia) may be appointed by the owner to handle clearance at the point of entry and to attend to quarantine matters.

Quarantine

Is my pet subject to quarantine and what is the duration of quarantine?

Dogs and cats from the United Kingdom, Republic of Ireland, Sweden, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Brunei and Singapore are not subject to quarantine provided the pets are healthy and all documents are in order. Dogs and cats from other countries are subject to a minimum of 7 days quarantine.

Which are the entry points with quarantine facilities?

Quarantine facilities for dogs and cats are available at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) at Sepang, Penang International Airport, and Padang Besar (Perlis-Thai border).

Do I need to make quarantine reservation for my pet?

For quarantinable pets, import permits shall be issued only upon confirmation of quarantine space which is determined by the Animal Quarantine Station concerned. Hence once the import permit is issued, it means quarantine is reserved for the arrival.

How do I get my pet to the quarantine station?

The Animal Quarantine Officer at the point of entry will assist in the transport of pets to the quarantine station.

Can I visit my pet during quarantine?

Yes, owners and anyone authorised by him is allowed to visit the pets daily between 8.00 am and 4.00 pm. However, visitors are advised to strictly observe all rules and regulations of the quarantine station.

What are the quarantine charges?

The quarantine charge for dogs and cats is approximately RM 79.00 and RM 72.00 per week respectively. This charge is exclusive of feed and any treatment costs that may be incurred.

3.2 A certificate from the competent veterinary officer, Primary Production (Veterinary) Department Singapore, certifying that the animal had not been imported into Singapore during the six months immediately preceding the date of the certificate except in accordance with regulation.

3.3 A certificate from the competent veterinary officer, Primary Production (Veterinary) Department Singapore, certifying that:

i) no case of rabies had been reported to have occurred in Singapore during the six(6) months immediately preceding the date of the certificate;

ii) the animal had been examined (within the seven days immediately preceding the import and found to be free from any clinical sign of infectious or contagious diseases of dog/cat.

4. Transportation

The animals shall be carried by aircraft or road transport direct to the prescribed landing place or any other airport as directed by the Director General of Veterinary Services, Malaysia or the State Director concerned.

5. Fee

The following fee is payable for each consignment of dog/cat imported into Malaysia :-

3.3 the animal has been examined and found to be healthy and free from any clinical sign of infectious or contagious disease at the time of examination and certification, prior to export.

4. Declaration by Captain of the Airport

The consignment of animals shall be accompanied by a certificate from the captain of the aircraft in which the animals were carried stating that :-

4.1 the animals had been embarked or emplaned in one of these countries.

4.2 no animal from other countries was permitted aboard or carried in the aircraft during the time that the animals to which the declaration refers was on board the aircraft.

4.3 the animals had not been landed at any intermediate airport other than Singapore, in the case if the animal was landed, that they were conveyed in crates and not allowed to leave the precincts of any airport/port at which the aircraft landed.

5. Transportation

The animals shall be carried by aircraft direct to the prescribed landing place or any other airport as directed by the Director General of Veterinary Services, Malaysia or the State Director concerned.

6. Fee

The following fee is payable for each consignment of dogs/cats imported into Malaysia :-

5. Quarantine in Malaysia

Upon arrival the animal shall be placed in quarantine and may be vaccinated with approved anti-rabies vaccine and detained in quarantine for compulsory period of not less than seven(7) days. The animal will be released if found to be free of any evidence of infection. However, where deemed nescesary the quarantine period can be extended up to six(6) months based on risk assessment on a case to case basis.

6. Fee

The following fees are payable for each consignment of dogs/cats imported into Malaysia :-

(i) Import Licence : RM 5 per head
(ii) Quarantine Fee : RM 3 to RM 4 per day (according to the size of the animal)
(iii) Quarantine Certificate : RM 2 per head

Diarrhoea with blood...

- usually caused by worms, protozoa, parvovirus , coronavirus ,distemper virus

- so many , how to know which one??? better Go to a vet ....but if you want to know a little bit then read here...

Worms

Dog with worms look like this

notice d very rounded n hard belly. but sumtimes could be because the puppy like to eat alot and look like this all the time,,so better ask a vet to check,,,,

vet usually take some stool/shit from dog and look under microscope and see worm eggs floating around...then give some medicine to kill the worms,,usually in 24 hours after bring home the worms will come out when the dog poo/shit...look like "taugeh" / bean sprouts.You maybe have pull out if stuck at the anus...

buttt,,, sumtimes cannot see the worm eggs becoz the worms not old enuf to lay eggs,,,so solution is,,,follow d deworming program for puppies..once every 2 weeks until 3 months old then + every 3 months after that

Easy to cure.

Protozoa

Belly look normal. Dog even maybe look active.

Vet do the same like 4 worms. Take sample . look under microscope.It look like a "berudu"/tadpole only dat its microscopic. For me by experience , no need for tests,, i give medicine straightaway.

This thing usually puppy carry it in body and cause no problem,,only when stress ( new house, new surrounding ) then multiply a lot and cause problem.

Also can be from drinking contaminated tap water,,,i have some clients who only give boiled water to their pets,,,,can u do the same???

Easy to cure.

Parvovirus. coronavirus, distemper virus.

Parvo + corona..can test with 1 testkit,,get result in 5 -10 minutes

Distemper ,,,can test like same like .

Dog look tired, no appetite,,lose weight very fast and also compared to worm or protozoa problem the stool /shit smell very very strong,,extra strong,,maybe u can smell it from 2-3 meters away.

But sometimes, diarrhoea with blood but dog is active and no fever,,test postive ..why????
Maybe because the virus from the vaccine come out from the body through the stool/shit....harmless ...false alarm. Just keep watch.

Not easy to cure...also very expensive...

原生动物腹部神色法线。狗可能甚而神色激活。狩医做同样象4只蠕虫。作为样品。看在显微镜下。它看起来象" berudu" 仅/tadpole dat它微观。对于我由经验，对测试的没有需要，我给医学直线。这只事小狗通常不运载它在身体并且造成问题，只有当重音(新房，新围拢)时然后倍增很多并且引起问题。并且可以可以是从喝污染的自来水，我有只给煮沸的水他们的宠物的有些客户， u做同样？？？容易治疗。

Over the years i noticed that there is a big difference you can make when planning your cat or dog for neutering.

Neutering is a surgical procedure involving cutting up the stomach of female dogs for surgery to remove the OVARIES and cutting open the testicles of male dogs to again cut away the contents.

The pain sensation in dogs and cats are the same as human because like us they have highly developed nerve and brain system. The difference is they tend to keep quiet even though they are in the most extreme pain. Imagine what it feels like if you were in their place.

I occasionally help in surgeries and notice that the younger dog / cats tend to wake up and not seem affected after neutering. Sometimes they play and behave as though nothing happened the day before.

Whereas the older ones ( 6 months - 1 year over), would always have this miserable look which clearly show they are in great pain for the fisrt few days after surgery. Some amount of pain killers may ease a bit, but not many clinics dispense them and the pain is not 100% gone even after painkillers.

Basically here what early neutering can do from my observation:

1. Less pain
2. Small blood vessels, organs,, easier for vets to do
3. Less anesthetics needed..wake up faster and calmer
4. Healing time is faster

The point: Send at 4-6 months old, please don't hesitate and wait. You will be doing your beloved dog or cat a huge favour because if done younger.

Awareness about different pet foods would not only clear the myths regarding feeding but also ensure proper maintenance of dietary requirement of an animal. Moreover it helps in preventing metabolic disorders and deficiency diseases.

Requirement Of Nutrients

The requirement of energy, and other nutrients can be calculated as per the following recommendations.

For an adult dog, daily caloric requirement varies according to size, stage of life and type of food.

According to size of dog, the recommendations are:

The life stage requirement of calories is as follows: -
Maintenance -100%
Gestation (trimester 1&2)- 100%
Gestation (3rd trimester)- 125%

Protein and amino acid
Ten essential amino acids required for dogs are arginine, lysine, isoleucine, leucine, histidine, methionine, phenyl alanine, threonine, tryptophan, and valine, of which lysine is first limiting amino acid. Methionine, threonine or isoleucine can be limiting depending upon protein source.

Fat
Dietary fat is concentrated source of calories. There is no known requirement as such: however, linoleic acid is required primarily to maintain normal hair and skin condition. Addition of fat will improve palatability of food.

Carbohydrate
Carbohydrate is not required for dogs; nevertheless, dry type canine diets frequently contain 40-60% carbohydrate. Carbohydrate must be cooked prior to feeding to prevent digestive disturbances.

Minerals
Of the Minerals, calcium and phosphorus require prime considerations. The preferred calcium and phosphorus ratio is within the range of 1.2: 1 to 2:1. The dietary calcium levels should not exceed 1.8%. Dietary calcium above 4% (DMB) will decrease the growth.

After knowing the basic requirement of nutrients it is essential, to appreciate the factors to be considered for recommendations of pet food. It should be based on age, body condition, life stage and life style along with the preference of owners for cost and convenience.

Age
Pets less than one year of age requires food for growth and hence recommendations are to be made according to body condition, whether it is normal thin or overweight.

Recommendations should also be made according to life stages as sedentary, moderately active or active

History of dogs 狗的历史

Miacis, is described as a weasel sized small carnivore that lived 40 million years back in the Eocene period. This animal is believed to be the oldest ancestor of present day dogs. They were forest dwellers, smaller in size with long tail and short limbs.

Cynidictus was the next to evolve and the evolution of Hesperocyan is thought to be next stage. There are two views on the development of Miocene period was followed by Tomarectus of Pliocene period and then the present day canids. But there is another view that Hesperocyan and then Leptocyan may be the ancestors of dogs or even Tomarectus.

The immediate wild ancestors of the dogs are more or less accepted as wolves (Canis lupus). But there are other views like the possibility of mixing of jackal and wolves, which lacks fossil evidence.

The production of fertile offspring from the mating of wolf and dogs supports wolfian ancestry for dogs. Moreover the dog breed Alsatian has lot of similarities with wolf.

Dogs belong to the class Mammalia, sub class Metatheria, Order Carnivora, Family Canidae, Genus Canis and species familaris.

Domestication
There are many speculations on the events that lead to emergence of dogs from wolves. The social structure of the wolf is very much similar to that of man and hence may be one of the reasons for its domestication.

Wolves might have followed the hunters initially to find game. This must have followed by sharing of killing by the man with wolves and subsequent taming of the animal. Or else early man may have taken young pups from the wolf's den and hand raised it. In process they depend on man for its food and hence subsequent domestication.

The similarity between dogs and wolves are many including developmental factors like less developed masseter and temporalis muscles, shorter muzzle, wider cranium, reduced tympanic bullae, convex mandible, smaller eyes and teeth.

The differences between the two are mainly in the reproductive cycles which are twice as that of wolves in dogs. The age at sexual maturity is around one year for dogs and two years for wolves. AKC has a seventh class of miscellaneous breeds. The history of dogs suggests that the first competitive dog showwas held at Newcastle in Britain in 1859. It was limited to pointers and setters. Later the kennel club of Britain was established in 1873.

The question is which one is the best?

1. There are 3 types of dog food.狗食3个类别

- Supermarket brand - sold at petshops AND hypermarkets, sundry shop selling, only one type of meat , eg chicken only and use all parts of the chicken etc....CHEAP.

- Premium brand - sold only at petshop , usually mix 2 type of meat eg chicken + beef, usually use meat specially for pet food, no head, bones, or gut used..AVERAGE PRICE.

- super premium brand - sold only at petshop, mix of 3 types of meat eg chicken + beef + fish, is "organic" meat etc....MORE EXPENSIVE

From my experience, dogs on cheap food grow up to be less perfect in terms of posture, shape and size.

The point : Compare the price per kg. the more expensive they are usually the better they are but stick to established brands.
Currently in Malaysia the establihed brands are such as Eukanuba , Royal Canin & Science Diet, Waltham .These brands even have their own research centre to improve their products.

But since the pet market exploded in 2000, a lot of new brands from overseas are flooding the market. But i would stick to the brands mentioned above.

Setakat pengalaman saya di Malaysia anjing selalunya kena " kutu babi" yang rupanya macam gambar bawah

Kutu babi pada anjing

Kutu pada kucing pula dipanggil "sengkenit" atau "flea" dalam Bahasa Inggerris rupanya macam ini

Tentu ramai pembaca yang pernah ada experience masalah ni dengan kucing kat rumah.

Ramai orang yang complain pada saya, kadang-kadang kucing mereka yang tak pernah keluar rumah ( duduk apartment etc) pun boleh kena.

Mereka ini susah nak kesan, lari laju macam lipas bila kita cuba cari celah-celah bulu kucing.

Cara senang untuk tahu kucing kita kena kutu ni ialah cari tahi kutu ni,,rupanya macam habuk-habuk hitam macam gambar bawah

Ramai jugak yang "surrender" nak selesaikan masalah ini sebab try macam-macam cara tapi tak boleh nak hapuskan masalah ni 100%.

Ada yang sampai bersabar je walaupun kena gigit kutu ni sampai gatal kaki n tangan macam gambar ni.

Disini saya kongsi pengalaman saya atasi problem ni.Berlaku sekitar bulan Mei 2008.

Memang sejak saya bela 3 tahun tak pernah dibiar keluar rumah, kalau sampai luar pintu disuruh masuk dia akan cepat-cepat masuk semula rumah dan pintu ditutup.

So satu hari saya perasan dia suka garu-garu dan jilat badannya sampai botak2 perutnya.Periksa punya periksa saya pun nampak lah ada tahi kutu dan seekor kutu berlari-lari celah bulu.

Saya pun pergi kekedai dan beli 3 barang ni.

1. Cat Flea Collar jenama Preventef. Awas janganbeli jenama lain yang buat dari bahan herba (tak berkesan)

2. Shampoo Anicide

Shampoo ni memang bagus, boleh nampak kutu mati melekat atas badan, tapi kadang-kadang ada yang termiss, masih hidup. Harganya pun tak terlampau mahal.

3. "Bayticol" atau "Tactic " (Ubat kutu anjing,,tapi halal,,kuat ubat ni...tapi murah...baunya macam minyak tanah..

Lepas dah beli semua atas ikut langkah ni:

1. Basahkan kucing lumur sesuku botol Anicide , gosok dengan tangan atau sepan lembut, biar 30 minit.Bilas.Boleh nampak kutu mati,,melekat2 especially di perut.

2. Campur 1 bagian Bayticol atau Taktik dgn 10 bagian air,,agak2 saja. Pastu mop di lantai seluruh rumah especially tempat kucing selalu lepaK.

Guna bancuhan untuk cuci kandang tidur dan " kandang bawak kucing jalan-jalan" @ "carrier".Saya check rupanya carrier kucing saya banyak anak-anak kutu dalam situ (halus macam habuk)

Buang pasir kucing, dan bilas dengan bancuhan. Ganti pasir baru.

Sambil tu buang atau cuci kain2 atau barang kotak, kertas dan lain2 yang buat semak kat rumah.

KUCING MESTI KURUNG SAMPAI LANTAI KERING 100%.

3. Bila kucing dah kering pakaikan Cat Flea Collar tu. Tukar 4 bulan sekali.

4. Esoknya periksa kalau ada lagi kutu di badan. Mandikan lagi sampai tiada. Biasanya kalau kes teruk mungkin kena mandi sampai 4-5 hari berturut.

5. Ulang shampoo Anicide tu seminggu / sebulan sekali.

6. Elakkan bergaul kucing liar.

Kesimpulan: Masalah ni memang boleh atasi 100% tapi kena beli barang diatas dan kena bersihkan banyak tempat.Mula-mula kena agresif sikit tapi lepas dah tak nampak kutu di badan kucing, maintain dengan shampoo Anicide dan Cat Flea Collar.
Ada spray dan ubat titik leher kucing tapi ramai yang mengadu saya semua mahal tapi tak berkesan.

These are important things i think a lot of new dog or cat owners should learn.

1. Take temperature. Learn whats normal temperature and whats not for their dog/cat.
Buy a plastic thermo from the pharmacy, its about RM 10 -Rm 20. Dog normal temp 38.5 to 40.5 C. Cat also about the same.

2.Try feed pills and syringe feeding at 3 months . Use vitamin pills and water to practise. So that if ur pet fall sick you know how to feed medications at home..or else send to a clinic ..let them do all for you.

3. Start practice bathing dog /cat, in my opinion,,3-4 months old. don't wait until too old especially cats. If not accustomed to it,,can give you lots of sratches and even bites.

4. Learn the difference between lice, ticks and fleas.. what they look like etc...so that when u have this problem you buy the correct type of stuff to solve the problem.

5 Others ...i will add in later,,any suggestions from readers?
